Our Editorial Standards

Opinion with Accountability.

An opinion may argue forcefully. Its factual claims still need evidence. Citizenly distinguishes commentary, verified facts, allegations and unanswered questions.

Before Publication

  • Sources support the specific claims, numbers and quotations.
  • Allegations are attributed; an investigation or lawsuit is not treated as a finding of guilt.
  • Material context, contrary evidence and a reasonable right of reply are considered.
  • Authors disclose relevant interests and distinguish personal experience from general claims.
  • Health and legal claims receive appropriate contextual review.
  • Adryenn Ashley is the sole initial publication approver.

A Record of What Changed

Edits create a new article version. Approval applies to that version, and a revised version must be reviewed again. Published articles can be corrected or withdrawn while retaining their editorial history.

Automated Vetting

The workflow is ready for automated source checks and correction suggestions. Automated checks do not approve or publish articles. A fully agentic editorial process is on the roadmap.

Corrections

Use your article workspace to request a revision. Public correction/contact routing will be added when the account and support service launches.
